Challenge 10

Ok. So I know I haven’t done week 8 but it’s in the process. So I’m going on to  Challenge 10. So yeah…. Here’s part one. My answers.
Part 1

How many posts did you write?
I wrote 12 posts. Well 13 when I put this up. Now I included the draft for Challenge 8 so….Yeah…

How many were school based, your own interests or set by the challenge?
Well the Why Videos Go Viral and Website Ideas post were assigned by my teacher. The Blogging Challenge posts were a part of the challenge so yeah. There’s 10. Now my tech class was assigned to do the challenge posts too except challenge 8. The S.T.A.R. Program, Drawing Tips, and One of My Drawings posts were on my own time.

How many comments did you receive from classmates, teachers or overseas students?
I received a total of 13 comments not including my replies.

Which post received the most comments? Why do you think that happened?
The Free Writing post received the most comments. I think it received the most comments because it was a post some people could relate to. Those people being fellow anime fans. For Soul Eater fans, there is a street in my town called Meister St.

Which post did you enjoy writing the most and why?
I have no idea. I guess the posts that allowed me to talk about my interests. I like those posts because I’m typically very quiet and I don’t really speak my mind. My friends are probably going to call me a hypocrite right there but to people I don’t really talk to, I don’t speak much.

Did you change blog themes at all and why?
At first I looked through the themes but I stuck with my current theme because I prefer dark things I guess.

How many widgets do you have? Do you think this is too many or not enough?
I have two widgets. Yeah that is probably not enough in some people’ minds but since I have one sidebar I don’t a bunch of widgets that will make the page longer. I might add a couple more.

How many overseas students do you have on your blogroll?
I have three overseas blogs on my sidebar.

Why do I want to put a polls or question and answer post now? *le shrug* Well, for the second part I had my one of my best friends review my blog and this is their feedback: (By the way, my friend’s name is Cherokee)

What were your first impressions of this blog?

“Ummm… too much writing. Umm.. pictures were… caught my eye..”

What captured your attention?

“The kitty picture… The S.T.A.R. Program. blog- post… The heading… Ummm.. The heading kinda looked like a cat eye or illusion.”

What distracted you on the blog?

“The distractions are the pictures, a couple of posts, and the kitty widget.”

What suggestions can you give me to improve my blog?

“More of your drawings… Ummmm.. I think you should do an advice page.”

I put her words in the ” because I was using her exact words. Also what she means by the Advice Page, “ummm… friendship advice and relationships. ‘Cuz you’re really good at giving advice.”
So yeah. Thanks to my friend. I will put up week 8 as soon as I can. I had a lot of fun with the challenge and I’ll probably still update after it’s over.

Challenge 9- Game Week

This post is for Student Blogging Challenge Week 9. I chose to do Game 1. The first blog I visited was The Avery Bunch. I liked the post about Oscar (A dog). It was somewhat long but I still liked it. The post was titled One More Thing… I chose that post because it was about dogs. I really liked it since it was written by the dog’s point of view and for people who like puppies falling asleep. Check out that post. The second blog I visited was Mini Starwriter’s Amazing Blog. I liked the post about the top 10 animes they liked. The post I commented on was The Top 10 Favorite Anime XD. For those who seen my freedom writing for week 2. I don’t think I need to explain why I commented on this post. The third blog I visited was AmpurraLover’s Blog! I commented on her Favorite Characters post. I know where most of these characters come from. I also share some favorites as well. Sorry this was a late post. I was having troubles. (Don’t ask) This was for Week 9.

One of My own Pictures

As the title indicates, this is one of my own pictures.

This is Zero. He is a kitty I just came up with and he is also my avatar. I know he may not have a few “natural” colors but oh well. I took about half an hour to 45 minutes to make this picture. And with a mouse pad. He isn’t my best picture but hey I like it. And at least I finished him.

S.T.A.R. Program

Earlier today, I went to the S.T.A.R. Program with my dad. The S.T.A.R. stands for, Safety Training And Recognition. The S.T.A.R. Program is attended by Union members that have taken safety training and members can bring family members. My father and I went to the Waukesha Expo Center. There, my dad and many other Union members that showed up had tickets put into a drawing. There were many prizes. The white and blue tickets were for the top prizes being Chevy Equinoxes. There were many different prizes for the red tickets. Including plasma TVs, tool sets, baseball tickets, and many more. My dad won a tool set and at the end he traded it for an Xbox 360 with the Kinect bar. He probably wouldn’t have gotten a yes without me. He said the tool set was a “honey to-do list” and “what would she do with a tool set?”. The guilt-factor. Works almost every time. So we now have an Xbox 360 which my dad is currently busy with setting it up. I can’t wait until we can play it!

Drawing Tips

I thought of some tips for people who want to use the computer to draw. But first of all, you need a drawing program on your computer. M.S. Paint is what I mainly use and it is typically already on a computer. It is also free. There are other programs but some cost money. I also have SmoothDraw3 on my computer but I don’t know if it costs anything. Anyway. Here are some tips:

1: Have an idea of what you’re going to draw first. (Not really a tip but whatever)
2: Start off simple.
3: Know the antomy of whatever you’re going to draw if it is living.
4: Make a sketch of what you want to draw in any color other than black.
5: Do the lineart in black over the sketch.
6: To get rid of the undersketch, you can take the fill tool and click on white spaces to color them the same as the sketch then right click to make it white again. Or. You can take the color of the sketch and set it as the undercolor. You can do this by right clicking on that color with the eyedropper tool or if it is in the color bar (which all colors are) you right click on that color. Make the main color white (just left click) and then you use the eraser tool. As your erasing, right click and hold so you only erase the color of the sketch. (Long tip. But a useful one)
7:  Then you can color you’re picture if you want to.

These are some tips for basic drawing. Now if you’re using a mouse pad you’ll have more difficulty. I’ll get some in depth on backgrounds another time. Also take note that there are more than one different layouts of M.S. Paint and the earser trick may not work one certain layouts.
(In prep. for the commenting game as said in the Student Blogging Challenge 7 )

Blogging Challenge 6- Digital Dossier

For Student Blogging Challenge 6. After watching the video about digital dossiers, I’ve looked up my name in google. I found some things such as my birth date, my parents names, and that I was on the high honor roll this year. I didn’t find a lot of things about myself. I found my aunt’s name in the search results as well. It kinda creeped me out a bit. I also found someone in the search results who as the same first name as me. I left that alone. I also found my half, and step- brothers’ names. I also found my my grandfather and a result that was like an acestory thing. I looked at that for a little bit. I had no idea what any of it meant. Apparently, I don’t have the biggest dossier. I guess that’s a good thing? There was a facebook thing where my name had been in a search result for someone else. I couldn’t look at it though since I’m doing this post from school.

Blogging Challenge 4- Images and Passions

Now for Student Blogging Challenge 4, I’ve decided to talk about another passion I have. Drawing. I like drawing with a pencil on paper just as much as using the computer to create images. When I’m using a pencil I like to either draw out the anatomy of whatever I’m drawing (if it an animal or human) or I just picture how the anatomy would be like in my head. I find that when drawing out the anatomy you have a lot of earasing. Not exactly easy since I draw often and I’ve wore down many earasers. I don’t have a lot of them at that. I do draw the anatomy on the computer when I’m drawing people since I’ve recently started drawing humans on it. Animals on the other hand, I’ve drawn enough of on the computer to know how their anatomy is. I like drawing people on the computer more than on paper because I know tricks to erase the anatomy after drawing the lineart in a different color. Or I might “cheet” by using a drawing program with layers. When I’m drawing on paper I don’t have those “freedoms” but I do have more control with a pencil than a mouse. I get very  frustrated a lot though when using both  computer or a piece of paper. I don’t always finsish the drawings due to lack of motivation.

Free Writing

Challenge 2 of the Student Blogging Challenge, I chose the free writing about something your passionate about. I decided to talk about anime! I love anime. One day I watched a total of nine hours of just anime. The animes I watch are mainly Naruto and Soul Eater. But I occasionally watch an episode or two of Black Butler, Blue Excorcist, Wolf’s Rain, and I just recently got into Bleach because my friend suggested it. I recently finished Soul Eater. I’m going to watch it all over again. When watching Naruto, I typically go to Hulu since I can watch it in order since I can’t keep track exactly since it isn’t shown as much on TV anymore. It typically is on TV on Saturdays at 11:30 at night. I only watched about five episodes of Wolf’s Rain I think. I don’t remember how much I watched of Blue Excorcist. It’s been a while since I watched it. I only watched the first two episodes of the first season of Black Butler. I have an array of favorite characters. Still, I’m upset that some animes I like were cancelled. Like Ouran Highschool Host Club for example. I recently been suggested to Clannad and One Piece by my friends. I think I have watched One Piece when I was younger. I don’t remember. I find anime a wonderful thing to watch when I have nothing to do. I’m so excited for Spring Break because I have the free time to watch anime!

An Excellent Blog

After reviewing the last Student Blogging Challenge’s Top 5 Student Blogs, I felt if I could have voted, I would have voted for the GBM Corner blog. I would have voted for this blog because unlike the other four blogs, the blog’s appearence was very appealing and caught the eye. This blog is also in Japanese unlike the other blogs which are in English. Even though I had to use Google Translate to find out what it said, I found it fun. I like to use translate to find things out. I found what it was about a some what interesting.

Exploring Website Ideas

As an assignment my technology class was supposed to look at website ideas on It was really cool. I took a liking to two sample sites on it. The one I liked the most was the wix of the day. It was called was very colorful and had a happy cloud on it. The colors were very interesting since the looked to resemble rain drops. I understand why it was the wix of the day. The second one I like was a sample that was about organic dog treats. The layout was unique and it had a few pictures of different dog breeds. The main picture was intriging and caught my eye. There was Bone Zappetit at the top. I’m an animal lover what can I say.
